Met Yesterday's Goal
So I worked out on the eliptical machine yesterday for 30 minutes and I have to admit my soreness is gone today. Must have needed it. Today is back to the Shred DVD and keeping up on Spark People on diet choices.
I have a sinus infection and feel overall crummy today. What I really want to do instead of eating healthy and working out is eat comfort food and go to bed. But that doesn't get me anywhere does it.

I really can't walk
I am so incredibly sore I almost cry when I get up from sitting to go walking around the office. Oh my God. I am now on day five of the shred workout and it is so hard. I am feeling muscles that I think have been dormant for years and years; poor little buggers. I think today I may have to take a break and just do the eliptical at work for 30-40 minutes for some cardio, If I can even do that!
Where are you? How is the Gym going? I miss you.
Love Bug.

Whole Grains and Workout's
The Shred is kicking my BUTT~ But I love it. I am typically not a fan of workout video's either, but what I am a fan of is more for less, especially when you have two kids. I can get a super high intensity workout in 20 minutes which is circuit based, i.e. Cardio, Strength and Ab's. I also love that she doesn't have the attitude of "look at me, I am so thin and pretty". She is great at providing the right kind of motivation (for me at least) through the workout, so I find myself pushing harder. Check it out on Netflix, all you need is a yoga mat and hand weights. (I am using three pounders)
So I have decided that while the SBD is really great for a quick weight loss I am not going to follow it to the tee. To keep it off this time it's all about really making a serious life style change. I find that this time on the "diet" it's been harder for me to stick to something that is limiting. For instance SBD is really good, but I find myself wanting on it. I am working on portion control, whole foods, Lot's of whole grains and lots and lots of fiber and calcium. I am in love with non-fat Greek style yogurt at Trader Joe's with 1/4 cup locally made granola. Great snack and keeps my energy high. I will still continue to nix white sugar and white flour from my diet, so bad for you anyway. So here is my meal plan for today:
Breakfast:
Whole grain English muffin with 1tbs peanut butter and sliced apples.
Mid-Morning Snack:
String Cheese with a handful of Almonds
Lunch:
Roast Beef, bib-lettuce, Dijon mustard wrap on a whole grain tortilla. and a small Ziploc baggie of spicy flax seed "tortilla chips" ** These are so good, I get them from TJ's and I can't believe they are so healthy. TONS of fiber and LOW GL index.
Afternoon Snack:
Small non-fat honey Greek style yogurt with 1/4 cup granola
Dinner:
Anaheim Chili and Garlic Spatchcock chicken and whole wheat couscous with mint and peas and a green salad.
I too have kept the 20lbs off that I have lost, but time to kick it high gear with the exercise. My goal for may is 10lbs. totally reasonable I think.

The Good News & The Bad News
Do you think we've ignored this blog for long enough. Maybe it's a good thing I don't have children. I might put a baby down one afternoon, walk away and come back to it three months later.
Ok, so the good news is that I got on the scale this morning, and oddly, I haven't gained a pound. The bad news is that I haven't lost a pound either. I'm still hovering at 19 lbs lost since the beginning of the year. I'm actually not too bad with that, I was afraid I'd gained a pound or five.
Today is a great day to start because it's the first of the month. I'm going to keep my goals simple. Six pounds for May. That'll bring me to 25 lbs total.
I've got to get back to the gym. You inspired me yesterday, so after I write this, I'm going to strap on my giant sports bra and head to the gym. 33 minutes on the elliptical and another 12 on the treadmill for 45 minutes is the plan.
Can you even walk today? Tell me more about the shred. I hate, hate, hate workout videos!

HVD From the Couch
I'm still on the couch. I don't really feel a whole lot better. My cough seems to be getting worse, how is that possible?
My little nest on the couch is a giant down comforter, my pillows, kitty cats, magazines, tissues, etc. The couch will have to be disinfected soon. I'll have to disinfect everything before Ashli gets here.
Back to our trip...what else do you want to do? Anything in particular during the evenings? Meals are an obvious choice. Do you want to try any specific types of cuisine, restaurants, etc.?
For our fancy night out on Friday, I'm thinking that we go to The Violet Hour for drink ahead of time. I think it looks great!
The Bar at the Peninsula Hotel is supposed to be great, but it's out of the way for our dinner on Friday night. We could meet there for drinks one night after work.
Any exhibits or museums that you'd like to visit? There is a Robert Mapplethorpe exhibit at Northwestern that looks interesting.
I really think that one night we should go to Sun Wah for Chinese BBQ. It's really close to the house and wow, it looks spectac! I've not eaten there, but I walked by and licked the window. Maybe after the gym one night?
Happy Anniversary & Valentine's Day!!
